Sprint 11 Summary: Restructuration Time

Welcome to another sprint summary! Already the 11th entry in this series. For this sprint, we’ve been focusing on fixing and optimising the underlying elements of the project as well as advancing in our Graphics Engine. Besides we’ve been going to different events to share the Kwee project with the world.

Front-End

This time around we’ve been optimising small details of the interfaces already implemented. The biggest addition have been the new error pages!

If you now wonder around somewhere that doesn’t exist you’ll be welcomed to an infamous 404 error page. Furthermore, if you try to access some page that is out of your limits you’ll find a 403 error page judging you very heavily 👀.

Error 404 Page

As you can see, to lighten the problem at hand, we’ve included different GIFs of cute Shibas, because why not 😌, every moment is the perfect moment to adore these cuties. If you refresh the page you’ll be greeted to different ones and we’ve hidden a small easter egg in one of them 🥚.

Back-End

For the backend part of the project, we’ve continued integrating ElasticSearch for performing the searches and filtering of different aspects of Kwee in a much faster and powerful way, with many more options for us to give end users better functionality.

Besides, we’ve achieved the first version of our fantastic Algorithm for ranking Businesses and Candidates. It takes into account different factors like the ratings that other users have given them and how full their profile is. It still is in early stages but we’re happy with how it is improving.

HashCode

On Friday we had the pleasure of talking with Andres Torrubia and Andrés Pedreño Muñoz about Kwee and the tech industry in general. It was very insightful! They also gave us a prize for winning the Google Hash Code at Torre Juana OST Hub and we couldn’t be happier!

Four of our team members participated in this yearly Google’s coding challenge and despite being the first time and hadn’t prepared a thing we were surprised to be the first ones in the Hub and Alicante in general!

We had a blast, met new people and learned a lot; overall it was a fantastic experience. Thank you Google and Torre Juana OST to make it happen! You can read more about the challenge itself here, about our Friday visit here, and find our approach to the challenge in our GitHub repo.

Graphics Egine

We are continuing non stop with our own graphics engine to be able to showcase a working prototype for the Milestone 3 presentation on the 28th of this month.

This time we’ve been working on creating the basic shares so that we can include light and cameras that we’ve created, as well as different functions so that we can use them properly.

Besides, the engine already starts to read texture and materials and we’ve been able to integrate it into the Angular project so that you can see how it’s going in the Kwee Live page.

Finally,  a friendly reminder to follow the development of this project along with us through our social media pages on Twitter, Telegram and Instagram, as well as this blog. We will be updating them on a weekly basis so that you can be up-to-date on our latest progress!
