Meet the Team V: Flaviu Lucian Georgiu

Our Meet the Team section comes to an end with this post about the fifth member of Watermelon Corp., Flaviu Lucian Georgiu.

Introduction

My name is Flaviu Lucian Georgiu, I’m 21 years old and I’m a Multimedia Engineering student, currently in the senior year (I hope so).

I’m from Cluj, Romania but I moved to Spain when I was 5. Since then, I’ve been living in a small town you may have heard about: Benidorm. I sincerely feel like home here.

Before getting into university I never imagined myself studying a degree related to Computer Engineering, I was attracted to other branches of Engineering. Even so, I do not regret my decision and I am very happy to have met and worked with fantastic people, especially my teammates.

Hobbies

I fully got into the world of technology when I started high school. I’ve been following all the new products since then and I love seeing how tasks that a few years ago seemed difficult or impossible today can be carried out easily.

I’m very passionate about music. I started playing the guitar and over the years the cello, the ukulele and my favorite instrument, the bass, were added to the list. I started playing the bass 5 years ago because of a rivalry with my brother and I ended up falling in love.

My little collection of basses consists of a 5-string black Squier Jazz Bass and a recent acquisition, a Fender 4-string Jazz Bass Reissue 62 in sunburst crafted in Japan.

Apart from playing, I listen to a lot of music and I love sharing it. I have a strong preference for music recorded with real instruments and the genres I listen to the most are jazz, blues, funk, and rock. I cannot stand reggaeton. I love a quote by Nietzsche that stands “without music, life would be a mistake”.

Some of my favourite bands are Vulfpeck, Jamiroquai, Marcus Miller, and Snarky Puppy.

Role on the Project

Back to the project, I agree with my colleagues to say that we all want to learn a little about everything, this is one of the main purposes of the project based learning system we are following. However, we had to divide ourselves to be more efficient.

Starting the development, Marcos, Izadi and I took care of setting up the blog and translating it. We also worked together in the configuration of the server and the installation of the necessary services for its optimal functioning. Personally, I took care of granting a certain degree of security to it and configuring the backup system.

I was the only one in the group taking the subject of E-Learning and I’ve been in charge of developing a chatbot for the project. It is not yet available on our website but for now, you can access it on telegram by searching @KweeBot. The chatbot’s name is Iwi and its responsible for solving the most frequent questions about the application, as well as helping in the search for job offers and companies.

I have also worked in the front-end section in the creation and validation of forms and lately, in joining some front-end actions with the back-end.

Finally, apart from the work already mentioned, I will be helping in the creation of dashboards with Grafana for monitoring and analyzing the performance of our application. In addition, as mentioned by Marcos in an earlier post, we will take care of carrying out the tasks of TAG, creating a graphic engine for a real-time 3D viewer of the interactions of the users in our platform.

Spam

Finally, I’ll leave here my social media profiles in case someone wants to follow me (don’t do it, I’m not very active).
